Disaster update

After a break of few days, I came back to the biometric research lab to do my nothing to do with anything project hoping to witness a fine muscle wire (Nitinol) crunch. Of course, since the placed order will take a little more time to arrive, I managed to grab a sample, a little more than 4 * middle phalanx (of MY index finger) long from the Instrumentation ppl(over here - Jim). Obviously excited, I passed 5V into it. To my delight, it contracted but when I removed the power source I couldn't register its relaxation. This is when I hung the wire with the help of a screw along the edge of the table with a scale to measure the delta change and did the experiment again.

The wire broke.

Now, I am left with a division of <3 and >1 middle phalanx lengths of wires.

Time I save these and use Leds and stop writing blogs. Buzzinga
*this was not a buzzinga moment, it could be Eureka - pause - Buzzinga though*

at 1300 hrs
Happiness arrives - the Leds are all dancing on my tunes and so is a portion on Nitinol. So, today shall end in a few hours after a meeting with a vernier caliper and some ideas on the final design. I will come back here again before announcing happy ending of a sad start

at 1315 hrs
Progress, progress - got the caliper in my hand and accidentally met the busy Andrew Sapeluk alias Andy, my project supervisor, discussed progress in about 2 minutes and scheduled a meeting for tmrw. Good, good.
Lesson learned - real work happens in less than 10 minutes but you have to sit around for 6 to 8 hrs a day to witness those 10 minutes.

Time up - The day ends without any drama. The wire works but gives variable change in length with same power supply. The muscle wire might not be the best option after-all. Happy ending none the less. Going to toss a coin between a swim and semi finals but head home till 1900. Post 2100, riverside where the words will flow in real ink. Will try and update after that.

Went to the gym, was denied entrance, sick angrez. Anyways, saw the match at Student Union, Holland won - good game, who cares. I just have to see the semis and the finals cause I was always supposed to. Realised that I really did miss the Wimbledon's, how could I? who cares. Went to riverside at 2200 hrs, did my junk, wrote a poem on the river Tay, came home, had chicken curry, rice and raita, yes u heard it right, CHICKEN CURRRRY, tasted just the same as it tasted some 6 years ago. Now will finish an abandoned episode of HOUSE, M.D. and sleep. Not sure if I will be interested in a diary entry blog tmrw. Tmrw is a busy day as per the forecasts.
